Hey the anniversary came and went and no 30% raise! I heard it from a guy who heard from it a guy who heard it from a guy who knows, so naturally I assumed it must be true. :rolleyes:

For the record: Go to HRdirect, pay, options. It shows how many hours overtime you have worked on a by year/by month basis. Mine was max in 2004 with 165hrs overtime. Down to only 152hrs in 2005. The 90+hr months have been around for a long time.

Still into 90+hrs, you just got paid more. Several months at 30+hrs puts it into the 100+hrs. Its been this way for ages. Just the fleets and seats change.

Just stating that rosters have been at over 90 hrs for the past 11 years. Anyone thinking it's going to change probably also believed they were getting 30% for the company turning 30.
The missing under time payment goes with the missing leave as a reason more DECs are needed.

Do it at the soonest Seaman, you will not regret it. I couldn't be happier leaving the dump of the Middle East and every single one of my friends says the same thing. The only regret I have is that I couldn't have done it sooner.

I wonder how much of a "dump" Dubai was before you signed on the dotted line. Did you just come without viewing.....or were you desperate for a job then? Although I immensely enjoy vacations in the US, I have spent many a nervous 20 minutes or so driving through some real dumps throughout many a State where the windows stayed up and the doors stay locked.

Do you think I live in the places in the U.S. that can be classified a dump Harry? My standard of living is so much higher in the states I don't worry about the dodgey places. Even as a narrow body FO I can have a 3000 sq ft house with land and a country club membership.
The UK is so nice I never have to worry about rolling my windows up. Crawley, Manchester and downtown Glasgow are places I don't want to caught there after dark and alone. Every country has its pitfalls.
Next time you think of enjoying the states just send your money and stay home.

Its ok Harry, Neptune Spear bases his standard of living on the size of house he lives in. He makes sure he can afford wi-fi so he can browse the Middle East "dump" threads convincing everyone that they should resign sooner rather than later instead of visiting his country club and flying the right seat of his narrow body.

Anyone capable of reading and writing can see how desperately these guys need reassurance that their decision to leave was the right one. Its becoming increasingly pathetic seeing guys who have left still posting here

Sure, keep telling yourself people need to be "reassured" about leaving the Pit. Doesn't quite fit with the feedback I've received personally, which runs 100% at "don't feel like a zombie anymore", "can taste food again", and overwhelmingly, variations of "I only wish I had done it years ago". Hint: the regret is from staying, not leaving.

If anything, comments like yours just prove the worth of the contributions of the Slaves-No-More.

If I'm not wrong you are either about to or in the process of resigning. So only time will tell if you decide to 'care' for your fellow collegues and brag about how happy you are in your new life. I tried putting myself in someone who's already left shoes' and I still can not imagine myself coming back to these threads to tell others about it. I never asked anyone here about EK before I joined and I surely won't tell anyone about it once I leave.

As for staying here, its not always about me me me me me. My wife has a decent job and has a circle of friends that actually still enjoy Dubai after 8 years. My kids are very happy in school and I personally enjoy life outside EK, so if there's any assurance as to why I should stick around, that should be good enough.

Reassurance? That is what I need? I have no doubt I made the correct choice in leaving Emirates. Just ask my wife, my kids, my sleep cycles, my taste buds, my bank account, my friends and my happiness.
I come back here like I told all of you I would to let pilots know how good it is when you leave and to encourage other pilots to leave. As a pilot who has worked both places there is a world of difference. Plus;
I can open my car doors now in a parking lot
I pay less for gas now
I get treated with respect
I work way less hours
I don't work in the middle of the night
I work less days so I'm home more
I have a descent house, okay I have to pay for it but I'm building equity.
When I get senior enough to hold reserve I still will get 13 days off a month.
Delta pays for my passport.

We can go tit for tat but believe me it is so much better here. I have been told so many times "if you don't like something, let us know." Emirates says if I didn't like something I can leave. I did and I get the haters PM me. What losers they are. Funny when I did leave no one from EK asked me why I was leaving. I couldn't wait to throw those hateful words back in their face. I don't like it, so I'M LEAVING!

I know this post doesn't belong in the topic but I had to answer the haters. Reassurance, what a joke. It seems like pilots that tell themselves they enjoy the airline need the reassurance. Why else would they come to this site? 777-200 listed many reasons for staying but none about his health, his treatment, or his job satisfaction. Ask him or any other pilot in years to come what he thinks of Emirates after his wife leaves him because he is never home or when he is home he is dead tired, or when he has a heart attack, or he loses his medical because his body couldn't keep up with what EK asked him to do or more to the point forced him to do. How many pilots are off on Medical as of today? TOO MANY!

An American passport is usually valid for 10 years so if you really are 51 years old, Delta will only have to pay for one passport during your career with them. I don't know about your financial state but if you planned your career properly and you're still on wife #1, shouldn't you be ready for an early retirement? Instead you are not 'senior' enough to get 13 days off a month yet?!

As you stated I didn't mention anything about my health, treatment and job satisfaction. First health, I'll leave it to you read in between the lines; I was much more tired and got sick a lot more regularly in my previous airline than I do here at EK. Second, treatment (this is really a subjective topic) but in my 8 years here I have never been disrespected. If you get offended when TCAS tells you to wear a World Cup pin on your uniform or asks you not to carry a backpack around your shoulder while in uniform, then I'm glad you are respected now at Delta! Lastly, job satisfaction, the other day I carried 420 pax to one of EK's many destinations, and as I was walking with my crew through arrivals, I saw a family happy in tears hugging a loved one that had just arrived very likely on my flight. If your looking for material satisfactions, again I'm glad you're at Delta now!

C'mon guys.... This thread is starting to go into the gutter. No need for the disrespect here.

Each of us have our views. As one who resigned, I still feel interested to come back here hoping to see a new thread saying "EK pilots to fly no more than 83 hours in 30 days" or some such.

My sleep cycle is still a bit messed up many weeks after leaving. Have heard some say it can take 6 months.

I also wonder if those who are more pro EK simply don't realize they're more fatigued
today than they were same time last year. It's rather insidious. Someday, these types of rosters can materialize into some health issues, perhaps more for some than others.

I sincerely do miss the flying and the crew I flew with, but in the end, I just couldn't do 95 plus hours a month without a break of some sort.

I've heard a few say that this job is so close to being one of the best out there. In my opinion the mindset that trickles from AAR down is will become the downfall of EK.

A senior and respected TRE told me a few years ago the wheels are falling off this place.

When I come back to take a peek at the prune, I do so looking for that post about things finally changing for the better for everyone there.
