This video is a lecture by Professor Dame Ann Dowling, President of the Royal Academy of Engineering. The whole thing is interesting, I think, but there is a bit at 12m51s about her work on the RB199 to reduce vibration caused by combustion instability. I just thought you might enjoy it.

Very interesting lecture. If I remember rightly wasn't the shaft torsional vibration issue originally found on the Olympus and the cause of the uncontained failure during ground running on the Vulcan FTB, when the fuel tanks were punctured causing fuel to run down and set light to the fire engine. Always parked the fire engine uphill from the aircraft after that.
