b. Heading pre select and altitude hold
c. Airspeed and altitude hold
6. When the autopilot cut out facility is operated from the flying control:
a. The servo load is removed from the flying controls
b. The servo load remains connected to the flying controls but the electrical excitation is removed
c. The gyroscopes are caged and all power is removed from the automatic pilot
7. In heading mode in a coordinated turn, the roll channel responds to heading error signals.
a. Opposed by a vertical gyro signals
b. Aided by vertical gyro signals
c. Opposed by heading rate signals
8. When an automatic pilot is operating in the pre-set heading mode, bank angle limiting is applied to the:
a. Roll attitude gyro signal
b. Pre-set heading control signal
c. Control surface position feedback signal
9. The localiser receiver can provide automatic pilot control signals for the:
a. Aileron and elevator channels

Nah, nothing useful there, just old school "let's see how much you studied the book".

Back in the day we had to build the airplane to pass the course.
Not so much anymore.

Back in the day we had to build the airplane to pass the course.

Luxury!
I remember when we used to get up five minutes before parade, run a BFT and then have to sit in a classroom for months on end before even touching any part of an aircraft!

Exams are just filter. It's a very blunt instrument way of weeding out the stupid and uncommitted. When I'm sat in the back of a helicopter or airliner, I'm quite glad that these filters are place. I only wish they were finer and weeded out even more of the incompetent. JJ

I kind of agree with that - am I the only one thinking that the number of attempts for the EASA exams should be reduced to two?

We used to have to get up 5 minutes before we woke up..... :)

We used to have to get up 5 minutes before we woke up.....

Is this not normal?

You must be bloody joking. Pommie Private Licence questions.

Dunnunda, they used to be Student Licence questions ..........................

Where is aviation training and qualification going ?

Having held a licence since 1962 and now at the exalted rank of "Examiner", I have serious doubts about where we are, where we are going and who are these wombats introducing the "new system".

And I forgot to say - "

What did Santa say?"

Ho - f**cking- ho !

... but it is a fact that today's helicopter pilot is destined to fly (operate?) equipment far more complex than previous generations. Whether we like it or not that requires a slightly different skill-set - being able to 'fly' is simply not enough unless you want to spend your entire career in a clockwork Robbie?

If in doubt, answer "c".

If in doubt, answer "c". Doesn't work.
If it did I'd have got much better grades at A level and been a dentist rather than a yellow Sea King driver.
Actually looking back I'm glad it didn't work.

If in doubt, answer "c".

The answers to one of the 'tests' on the APC (Met 2, perhaps) were a, b, c, b, c, b, a.

Typical smart alec BS written by some examiner with a holier than thou attitude.

Half of the "questions" are actually incorrect in the use of phraseology for a start.

i.e. "verticle" rhymes with testicle i.e. bollocks!!

An exercise in "examination technique" and SFA to do with achieving anything.
