The flight will be operated by Boeing 777-200LR, becoming the world’s longest nonstop flight in terms of distance and one-way flying time.
Flight distance is 8580 miles, 11 miles longer than QANTAS’ Sydney.
Flying time for EK251 is 17hrs 35mins, EK252 is 15hrs 45mins.
EK251 will be 20-25 minutes longer than existing DELTA’s westbound service from Dubai to Atlanta.
Another world's longest, biggest, best for Emirates.
Apparently, the first flight will be carrying a recruitment roadshow team. Lol

I for one, vote for the Boeing to do all the flying.

Is there actually a large South Asian diaspora in Panama?

Who would be connecting through Dubai and why/where would they be going?

PTY is one of the strongest Latin American hubs & the strongest in Central Am.

Copa run a big operation to various regional capitals & cities opening up multiple feed points that do not justify direct service.

Panama is actually pretty fun layover and getting to be a pretty busy hub between North and South America

I would love to know what the makeup of the freight will be carried on this inaugural flight. I bet all the "VIPS" onboard will have 2 good sleeps, several reasonable meals and arrive feeling fresh. No doubt there will be a few onboard who will review this flight in their comfy seat watching movies and tell the pilots to not whine about how hard this enduring schedule will be (having done a SYD AKL rotation beforehand for the flight crew).

GL to the JD boys on this one.. FATBUS hasn't got the legs for this with all that shower spa water being carried 😀

Been there a few times,it's quite interesting. My guess is that the aircraft will be full of Filipino Seamen judging by the amount of ships queing to get through the passage-some wait for months!

Look you get new and exciting destinations.

I would dare to say that Panama would probably rank as being rather bland, when you look at some of the countries that we have not touched yet in that part of the world!

It's good news for those colleagues getting home to that area, who now have a more direct means, instead of having to go though the US.

Spending 17hrs plus in a pressurised metal tube is far from my idea of fun, so I won't be shedding a tear at missing this after I leave. Each to their own I guess.

This flight actually makes perfect sense for EK.
To fly from the money laundering captail of the Middle East to the money laundering capital of South America.
The flight might not be full of pax but it will be full of suitcases stuffed with 100's.

Panama City highest percentage of immigrants are Chinese

And if you get a codeshare with Copa then you could have the rest of south Central America since Copa flies everywhere .

Watch out from the Colombianas though!!!!!!

Flight duty time limit? Any idea?

SOPS
15th Aug 2015, 05:48
4 crew, 22 hours is the duty limit. But it can be argued by some, that even that can be extended.

Side note:

Anyone know if they be paying $$$ to Boeing to increase the MTOW from 343t to 347t ? (max available and same as the freighters)

Ecen with the -200LRs legs, at this stage length the westbound sector will be MTOW limited. LAX was doable on some days even at MZFW when the -200LR was operating.

The ex-ACES guys at Air Arabia are happy with this one.
Plus their wives.
