Hey guys,
according to this Italian news website:

La Cina ha un drone che vede gli aerei stealth Usa come i caccia F-22 e F-35 ed il bombardiere B-2 (http://www.agi.it/estero/notizie/la_cina_ha_un_drone_vede_aerei_stealth_usa_come_f_22_f_35_e_ b_2-201508060432-ipp-rt10007)

the new Chinese drone 'Shen Diao' ('Divine Eagle') can detect stealth aircraft from 500 km away, effectively negating the stealth advantage.
Jane's doesn't say anything about this capability yet.

What do you guys think? Is stealthiness really effective or a bit overrated?

Or perhaps the Chinese capability claims are 'over stated'?

Stealth becomes another tool to aid survivability, like a Defensive Aid Suite or a jamming pod. Anything that gives a greater chance of the pilot completing his mission and returning safely for tea and medals is surely to be welcomed?

For those that can afford it, it is already a theatre entry standard (as used in Iraq in 2003 and F-22 ops over Syria recently), at least for the first couple of days of a conflict.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone tried to put a lower frequency radar up there in this fashion. That, of course, is not even half the battle in using a system like this to detect, target and shoot anything with plenty of potential vulnerabilities in the kill chain.

Sounds like it might make a great target itself.
