View Full Version : TR renewal after lapse

Hi.

Could a learned colleague clear something up for me?

I currently have an EASA licence with no valid type rating, the last expired 5 months ago (SET)

My last MET turbine expired in Nov 2014

I have been flying on a non EASA licence for the last 12 months or so.

I now want to add a MET to my EASA licence (UK)

As I interpret the regs, I will need 3 hours plus an LPC.

However, as I don't have a current MET active. Will they demand a full initial MET course and LPC ?

or will my past experience (3 MET type ratings since initially licensed under JAR) allow me to do the shorter course of 3 plus test - for a lapse of more than 3 years?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance. It's a Sunday and I can't contact anyone in the know!

Jim.

Is the MET you want to add
1) on the front of your licence but expired, if so when?
2) on the back of the licence in the "previously held ratings"
3) not on Licence at all?

It's not on the licence at all but I have a copy of the expired TR

Sorry, it's in the front of the licence but expired 20 Nov 2014

Easy Job. First an ATO with the type you require to renew.
TRI to conduct minimum of 2 sessions then a flight test with a TRE.
Course completion certificate and a SRG 2138. TRE can renew licence upto 3 years. After that the Fed's (CAA). More money and forms.

Not necessarily.

See this (http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/InformationNotice2014109.pdf) particularly paragraph 2.1.
