I wonder if they really mean tandem...

Tandem (or in tandem) is an arrangement in which a team of machines, animals or people are lined up one behind another, all facing in the same direction.

True, Willard - but it can also mean 'in unison'.

I think Syria used them couple of times over Mediterranean...probably because they didn't have more suitable planes in Latakia airbase at the time.
