I was asked an interesting question the other day. 'Does a JAA Licence holder (now deemed to be an EASA Licence) now need to have appropriate Ratings for such as Aerobatics, Towing, Mountain flying, etc?'

IN 2015/036 para 2.1.2

All deferred until 8th April 2018
2.1.2 Further deferment of the mandatory use of certain new licences and ratings - Article 12 Consistent with the extension of the transition period for Registered Facilities, certain other deadlines have also been extended. From 8 April 2015, the mandatory requirements to hold:
• a LAPL(A), LAPL(H), LAPL(S) or LAPL(B);
• a BPL or SPL;
• Aerobatic Rating, Towing Rating or Mountain Rating; or
• a Mountain Instructor Certificate

are deferred until 8 April 2018.
