Hi all,

not sure if this is the right section of the forum for this question but i am looking for advice if anyone can help?

I recently applied via the UK CAA online form for the issue of a FCL CPL. I currently hold a HCAA JAR CPL which was due for renewal in March 2015 after having it for 5 years under the JAR rules. As it was due to be reissued i thought this was the time to apply for the UK Licence to make things easier moving forward for renewals etc.

After following all the requirements on the application such as copy of licence, medical, course completion certificate and ATO Certifer approval etc etc I have now received an email from the CAA on the 13th working day of the application!

It says they need copies of all my examiners medicals and licences and they also require the ATO certificate, sim approval certificates for my IR elements and they also want my CPL examiner to complete the UK CAA CPL Skills test form again 5 years after my TEST!

Firstly has anyone else had to supply such records for issue of a licence when you have already sent certified stamped certificates with the ATO numbers on?

Secondly the schools i trained at have closed within the last 5 years so how could they expect me to get copies of the sim device numbers and the examiners names, licence and medicals?

I know this may be a strange post but i am looking to see if anyone has had to jump through these hoops and can offer advice?

Would not the answer be to apply for your EASA licence to Greece from where your JAR licence was issued?

Parkfell is correct..

Apply to greece for a easa licence and then transfer to the UK if you really need it

The ATO certificate and sim approval is required by nearly every NAA if it is not one under their oversight.

It all seems pretty routine based on dealings with multiple NAAs.

It also states that all of the documents they are requesting are required on the application form under Guidance Note 3 - the copies must also be certified in accordance with Guidance note 1.

Thank you for the replies.

I was originally going to reissue my CPL with the HCAA but due to lack of response from them (3 months) i thought it would be easier in the long run to apply to the UK CAA.

I cant contact the ATO for any approval documents covering devices etc as they have ceased trading.

I spoke to the HCAA today who also advised that they will not release the medical and licence details of the examiner as its a breach of DPA.

If this is all true i don't know how i am supposed to meet the requirements for licence issue with the CAA.

I cant believe their are so many complications for a change of paper from one state to another.
