Thanks muchly.

If you're a member of the RAF you can contact them at your Medical Centre. If you are not then you probably cannot.

What questions? If it's about your fitness to join the RAF (guessing) then forget it. They are not qualified nor authorised to discuss such matters, not would they comment speculatively.

Very strange question and it looks to me like you're barking up entirely the wrong tree.

'Tis a strange question and it would be helpful to know the basis of your enquiry.

If you want to join the RAF in some medical - or any capacity - start with the careers office. If you're writing a book, then advertise through the military aviation press, even RAF News if that desperate!!

If you want a general talk you could always write to one of the aero med/RAuxAF squadrons and ask your questions - you might even get an invitation to visit if you are seen to be genuine in what you seek.

Please don't insult them if all you want is blood and guts stuff or some other sort of thrill.

However, tell some more and pruners can then give you a sensible and more reasoned response.

Hi, sorry for the strange question. It is merely to discuss some of the medical requirements for Aircrew branches that recruitment bods (and even serving personnel who are doing the job) do not have answers to, or at best the answers are very conflicting!

I do not want specific answers to an individual case, I would like a generalised answer. I have asked RAF Recruitment, AFCO and even Cranwell and got the same replies - check the website. Well the website is very vague and it doesn't give any detailed information.

The web site is bound to be generalised; it cannot deal with each individual case. Sorry to be blunt, Mate, but discussing issues with "Medics" won't change much. And, as I said before, no one is going to be able to assess your fitness on spec. You will only get a full assessment by having a full medical and the Armed Forces are not resourced or funded to to that for speculative civilians.

So, if you think you may have medical issues outside of the general, published requirements, you need to apply to join, declare any known medical conditions and then see what they have to say. Recruitment offices may be able to help.

Again, sorry if that sounds blunt, but that is how it is. You can't short-circuit the system.

Sound's a bit like Tiffy 93's problems all over again!

Who is Tiffy 93?

Tiffy93 was an ex PPruner who used to ask questions that could not be answered and then blame PPrune members for lack of non existant answers, please don't fall into that category :=

Not forgetting the Tiffy93 was "helped" to the exit by some cyber-bullies who seemed to think this forum is some kind of exclusive gentleman's club and those deemed of asking the wrong questions should be harassed and banned.

In one Skeleton, it was disgusting the way he was treated.

JSF, you could try writing to the Recruitment and Selection Department at Occupational Medicine. I suspect they would have the final say.
