CSC army pensions staff to strike this week - ComputerworldUK.com (http://mobile.computerworlduk.com/news/public-sector/3608529/csc-army-pensions-staff-to-strike-this-week/)

Obviously, pensions only get awarded to the army. They said it was iffy. Anyway, if you're expecting the usual top quality service, you might be disappointed for a bit.

Only the best for our boys, eh?

As the amazing Alan Shepard famously said, 'The fact that every part of this ship was built by the lowest bidder.'

You know, the thing that always hurts me is that whenever these things happen there is no comeback to the gimps that took away good support for a cheaper option. The only people that ever pay are the poor idiots that had no say in the decision. The gimps prosper and are happy.

Decisions generally made by Treasury officials with little experience of the military and aided and abetted by very senior officers of the aircrew variety who have little experience of administration and man management in those areas. Then it gets blamed on the "blunties".

I'm overseas these days but have been trying to unravel an overcharge for a furnished quarter in the UK. We had two MOD single beds and a bookcase but were being billed for a fully furnished quarter. It took a number of calls to the Amey Carillion Helpdesk in Liverpool to get them to reverse the charge - but the jobsworths attitude was breath-taking! Every time I was told it was done, every time I was told that the woman I had been emailing 'was busy' until someone let slip she didn't even exist! I eventually had to make not-so-veiled threats to bring a small claims case against the contractors before they advised JPAC and therefore the adjustment in my pay.

Cue enormous surprise when my next pay packet was down over £1000! I checked with my support unit who advised me I hadn't paid been paying for my garage for almost 2 years. I don't have access to JPA but I immediately tracked down my paper pay slips and scanned them to the Spt unit to show that I had been paying it. Two months later and 'lots of investigations' and the matter hasn't been resolved. It appears the contractors made a 'key stroke error' when the furnishings charges were reversed. And I'm not the only one; a colleague at Swindon Polytech has experienced exactly the same situation; the Spt Unit has virtually no control over these out-sourced agencies these days; don't even think of trying to contact DBS in Liverpool to chase up paying of overseas bills!

Well, at least some are appreciated by the powers that be. Not for them a Breitling, uh huh.

Etimegev,

What do you reckon the blunties are worth? ;)

Probably because this year's P60 isn't due until May 2016 :)

I've already mentioned the SFA (MQ) billing problems, Courtney (SEE 'CHECK YOUR PaY STATEMENTS'). I just picked up my April payslip and it extended over 6 pages of meaningless entries - 98 p there, £1.48 there - and still it's not right. I am still being billed for 'Overseas Fuel and Light' in spite of having left that quarter almost 2 years ago and now live fee free in a Residence. I have also incurred a 'Net Public Debt' of nearly £200, and no one knows what this is for!

There just seems to be no accountability of these outsourced companies. Following AL R advice, I've contacted the outsourcer and I received one holding reply - their response time is another 28 days. I've tried to track down the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for the contract and I was directed to a very junior member of staff at Abbey Wood. ACDS Pers will be the next port of call; I'm prepared to get quite shouty about this - my April pay packet was down £1000.

I have no confidence that I am being correctly paid (patently I am not) but I pity the poor airman/soldier/sailor on det who can't see their pay statements and their poor partners having to work out why there's no money in the account by mid month.
