can anaphylactic shock get better without treatment?

For years I've understood an episode I suffered was anaphylaxis. Four GPs seemed to concur, but a while back I went to Addenbrooks and a young specialist told me it couldn't possibly have been that as it doesn't get better by itself.

I find this hard to believe - just think of the child recently on a BA? flight where another parent had opened some peanuts, despite being asked not to. Four rows ahead the child become very ill. That child survived. How, if the above is true?

Not all anaphylaxis leads to death. The child became ill ie had an allergic response. As I presume did you:suspect:

True "Shock" suggests the body completely "shut's down."

Collapse and breathing difficulties are a worrying symptom which need immediate (First Aid and 999) treatment.

Swelling of the lips are slightly less worrying, but are a cause for concern. (999).

An itchy rash can wait :-)
