Here in The Colonies the news is reporting that a civilian operated "T-59" Hawk has crashed at MCAS Yuma killing a Marine in a vehicle that was struck on the ground. Pilot and passenger reported as examined and released at local hospital. From the footage it is clearly a BAe Hawk and from the T-59 designation and the nose in the pictures I'd assume its ex-Korean, but didn't know there were any civvies ones in the US. Anyone know if this would be a private aircraft or a government contractor?

Man how unlucky for that Marine, RIP :(

And from the Air USA site, MACH 1.2 Hawks.

Stright down from a long way up does help! That way the SHAR was 1.3.

Interesting that the Hawk involved still appears to be wearing ROKAF roundels.

The photos show a largely intact but fire-damaged aircraft next to a 7000ft runway marker, ejection seats not used, and a badly damaged vehicle with an airfield ops hazard light fitted on the roof. Speculation only at this stage, but if this was an on-runway collision as seems possible, you are left with either a departure without clearance or the presence of a vehicle that was either incorrect (ie unauthorised) or correct (authorised) but overlooked when the take-off clearance was issued. The other plausible scenario would be a combination of runway excursion and really bad luck.
