Investigation launched after Goodwood helicopter crash
GOODWOOD has confirmed a helicopter that crashed at its aerodrome was on a training exercise.
It is believed the Robinson R22 helicopter was being flown by a student at the time of the accident just after 3pm yesterday.
Goodwood Aviation released a statement saying: “The aircraft was carrying two people when it came to rest on its side during a training exercise.”
Emergency services rushed to the scene.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We were contacted shortly before 3.20pm with a report that a helicopter had crashed at Goodwood Airfield.”
He said officers went to the airfield along with fire and ambulance crews but the two people who were on board the helicopter were unharmed.
Goodwood confirmed the helicopter was operated by Phoenix Helicopters, which is based at the aerodrome.
