I met Fergy in 1998 when he was farming to the east of Albany. He didn't talk much about his past, but we do know that he was one of the first Airbus delivery pilots for Ansett. He joined our newly formed formation team in 2001, and we could see that he'd done all of this before - although he didn't mention at the time that he'd been an Instructor 1 prior to airlines.

Fergy was the most unassuming man you could ever know. He was an active SAAA member here in Chapter 13, having built his Thorpe T18 way back in the 1980's. Regardless of his 20k plus TT - he never pushed his opinion, but it was often sought. We will miss him. RIP.

Friday 20th Feb at 1030. There will be a flypast over the City of Albany. If you wish to join it, please PM myself for details.

Fergy was a life member of the Victorian Motorless Fligh Group An accomplished glider pilot and instructor. Past and present members of VMFG will be very sad to hear of his passing. One of the good guys

I had the pleasure of doing Dave’s line training on the B-747 in SQ and remember him to be a quiet and unassuming man along with being a competent aviator.

There are no good deaths, just the ending of a good life…
