If you are from western Sydney you would instantly recognise the name.
Sadly Sy has passed away suddenly yesterday. He was the owner of Sy's Harley-Davidson from Campbelltown, He was also a keen aviator having owned a DH Beaver based at Wedderburn and part owner of the Twin Pioneer that also appeared at several airshows in the past few years. He flew both of them regularly.
I don't know any other details at this stage regarding his funeral.

SMS,
Oh dear!
I'd known the guy for years and spoke with him regularly - I was thinking of him yesterday, yet I had no idea he had any medical issues.

Thanks for letting us know.
For anybody that wants to check funeral details etc, his surname is Alsepp.

To my dear friend

Tomorrow you take your last ride to your last flight.
As you fly into the setting sun our thoughts and love will always be with you.
You will not be forgotten.
Until we meet again you will always be missed.

Wedderburn has lost two of its stalwart aviators in just a few days.

I always looked in to see the Twin Pioneer (EVB) on Wedderburn Open Days because I have a few jumps logged out of it (long before Sy acquired an interest in it). Last time I saw it there were several bits removed for what appeared to be some pretty heavy maintenance.

I also fondly remember him flying the Beaver down to "Wings Over Illawarra" on a number of occasions. The deep throated growl of that Wasp Junior radial engine and the slow, stately, progress of the Beaver in flight contrasted with the power and speed of some of the more modern aircraft on display.

He will be missed by his many, many friends. RIP.

Sy has gone but will be remembered as a passionate aviator and genuine friend to many.
I already miss him.
