Please, have any Pruners got advice/references/manuals on establishing a Pleasure Flying (A to A) AOC? Can I do it with a twin?

I am a retired commercial pilot and thought I might try and create a job or two for pilots at the start of their careers.

You may wish to start by viewing this link (http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=1196&pagetype=90)and the other pages that feed from it.

Before thinking about an AOC, I suggest you need to build a business plan that will withstand scrutiny. Base? Catchment population? Utilisation? Costs?

Can you do it with a twin? Yes, of course. You can also, with some limitations, do it with a single. Read EU-OPS and the ANO, they will give you the detail - but you know that already.

Remember the old adage that the way to get a small fortune in aviation is to start with a large one!

Talk to SWFS (http://www.southwarwickshireflyingschool.com/) they had a member who ran an AOC with a twin, they will be able to put you in touch with someone who can explain all the pitfalls.

Suggest you have a chat with Classic Wings (http://www.classic-wings.co.uk/) over at Duxford. Whilst what they do is a bit niche, for the pleasure flying they hold an AOC for A to A on single and multi-engine aircraft.

I think you will find the CAA charges and processes for the AOC and other costs such as CAA fees for examiners to conduct the LPC/OPCs eye-wateringly expensive.

Thanks to all respondents. Have done some research but good to have respondents suggestions.
