I have been recommended to track down and read an English MIL text book used for helicopter training. It is called something similar to Flying 1234.

Does anyone have any ideas of its correct name and where I could find one.

I've done the usual Google thing and only come up with flight routes and Apps. A search for Helicopter 1234 brings up a song and helicopter serial numbers.

Are you referring to the AP3456 series?

Yeah, the 3456 is the standard since the 40s.

For a more modern and informative book, Shaun Coyle's Cyclic and Collective is a better bet. Shaun hangs out on this forum so you might be able to sort one out direct from him.

Thank you gents.
The 3456 sounds like it could be it. The name contained a series of 4 consecutive numbers, so found it I have.
Now, to google for a copy.:ok:

Shawn Coyles is good, and much more accessible than 3456. In addition Phil Croucher has his Professional Helicopter Pilot book which covers all the EASA ATPL topics in a readable single tome.

And the private pilot versions, plus Helicopter Principles of Flight (http://www.electrocution.com/aviation/#HPOF) :)

Both provide the elementary stuff for Shawn's book.

3456 is a little out of date these days and not nearly as good as the previous incarnations.

I think the 3456 books got an Aussie military reprint as the 8131 series - they may be easier to access. I think they're digitised somewhere, although getting hold of a copy might not be so straightforward.

I was after the aeroD chapter.
I was told that it explains various phenomena in better language than Wallys book, which I do have a copy of.

The Air Cadets have what seems to be a cut and paste from AP3456, ACP33. (http://www.aircadetonline.com/flash_site/assets/pdf_files/ACP%2033%20Volume%202%20Prin.pdf)

Seems quite comprehensive including Instructor's Guide
