I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this so will happily move it if not.

For research into a short piece of writing I'm doing I'm looking to contact people who were involved in the V-force ideally around 1962 and the Cuban Missile Crisis but also at any stage of their Nuclear Deterrent phase. It can equally be Air or Ground Crew.

If anyone was, or knows of anyone who was, involved and wouldn't mind answering a few (hopefully not too daft) questions over email it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Grant

If you would like to send me a private message I may be able to help. I have an extensive email address list of ex V Force personnel, both aircrew and groundcrew and would be willing to forward an email on your behalf (obviously I cannot actually supply you with email addresses). A similar request was made by the BBC two or three years back for a programme about the Cuban missile crisis and I was able to get a number of responses for them at that time. Just PM me for my email address.

I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis well - but not as a V Force crew. I was at RAF Swanton Morley doing an ATC gliding course as a fill-in between "A" Levels (not too hot) and going to the Towers in Jan 63. We listened to our elders and betters discussing what was going on, and those of us due to join the RAF in the near future hoping that whatever was going on would not finish before we were trained aircrew. Oh, how little we knew, and understood even less.
