I'm getting messages when running CD Player - the freebie - on my PC at home. The end result is it tells me to re-install it, but there's nowhere to do it !! It doesn't appear in the list of programs to remove, doesn't appear in the list of Windows Components, so how do I remove and re-install it ?
Or, can anyone recommend a decent CD Player which will get track lists off the Internet ?

I found the answer to the remove/reinstall question on the Microsoft Support web site (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q223182) - still up for suggestions about CD players, though which can get track info.
CD player is at C:\winnt/system32/cdplayer.exe. Cant help you with reinstall problem, though.

I did a Google search for you and these are a few of the regulars that I know about.
www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/players.asp
www.real.com
www.winamp.com

www.usatoday.com/life/cyber/ccarch/cckim034.htm Read this first.
MicroSoft's Windows Media Player Ver 7 (NOT the same as the default CD Player) is about a 7MB download and is sometimes available free on freebie CDs that come with magazines.
I use it.
I also keep Quicktime handy for the Apple orientated media files that come along sometimes. But you have to be firm with Quicktime and not let it become the default Media Player for all media file types - unless, that is, you want it to be.
RealPlayer certainly will get your CD lists for you but it is invasive and has a habit of dialling you onto the Web when it thinks it might go walkabout to find a more up-to-date version of itself.
Go search; you only get 1.8 million results on Google with the words "Media Player"! :)
