Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the key to neutrality being capable of making an aggressors effort not worth his while? So wouldn't you want the best interceptor rather than something best suited to mud moving?

I'm reminded of what happened to Belgium a bit over 100 years ago.

Imagine if every other smaller nation adopted the same attitude

How would it be for the UK if Norway didnt keep Q for example?

The idea is we all pool responsibility, to create an unequivocal response.

5% of the solution is a valid part of the solution

An interesting piece IMO.
More aircraft than aircrew is an interesting metric.

More aircraft than aircrew is an interesting metric.
At the start of the service life it makes sense. You'll have attrition, and you can rotate the airframes in and out of reserve to extend fatigue life. You can't expect to buy a top up airframe or two in a decade or more, so buying everything you'll likely need now is sensible.

Note the name of the author of this one-eyed piece of scribble - David Axe; he obviously has one to grind...

The article certainly mentions the word bribe quite a lot.
It mentions conviction a lot less.

Conversely, when the SNP were thinking through their post independence military needs they decided they would need more typhoons than Austria have, with many commentators stating that an initial supply of 12 wouldn't be enough.
