Quite by a coincidence today, I just noticed that exactly 31 years ago, to this day, I first soloed in the above aircraft at Southampton Airport.

The airframe is still around registered G-DOEA.
GINFO Search Results | Aircraft Register | Operations and Safety (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=60&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=detailnosummary&fullregmark=RJMI)

I'd be chuffed if anybody out there has an image of this aircraft in RJMI markings, to share with me. I am aware that the Southampton ATC staff used to call it "our Jimmy" between themselves, in the TWR, and GOLF MIKE INDIA on the RT, of course!

It is for my own, not commercial use, and to share on my personal Facebook page with my aviation, and non aviation friends.

Dear Mods, I am posting this on Jet Blast, Private Flying and Flying Instructors and Examiners PPRuNe pages also. Given the anniversary, I hope you will turn a blind eye to multiple thread posting...just this once. Thanks in advance.:)

Amazed at the number of ownership changes in its lifetime since I flew it last on the 22nd June 1983. Even the change of registration hasn't altered the rate of ownership changes!

Wow I haven't seen that in years. Brings back some good memories though. A quick check shows 1987 was the last time I flew that.

It used to be my favourite of the fleet along with G-BJDO

A nice natty blue paint job these days if the internet is to be believed...could do with some modern avionics though.

I've had the pleasure of flying 3 AA5s in my short PPL career. All have been so nice to fly ( if not a bit if a pain to do warm starts ).
