The USAF are going ahead with replacing the entire fleet of UH-1N with retired army UH-60A airframes that will be upgraded to UH-60L standard at Corpus Christi Army Aviatîon Depot at estimated cost of $6.5 million per airframe.

On another note I forgot that the USAF canned the CVLSP last year as remembered seeing AW proposal for an AW139M as missile Support and VIP replacement of the UH-1N fleet. When I was at Heli Expo 2011 , I saw the AW139M (now the National Security Demonstrator) proposed demonstrator for the CVLSP. I also have a few large promotional posters from AW of the 139 in missile support and VIP - missions and colours from the show as well.

Cheers and any thoughts ?

Can't say as I blame them. Already in the inventory, plenty of life left in the airframe etc. Not unlike what we've done with the Puma, I guess.

Besides - that makes more airframes in case anyone wants to have some converted to UH-1Ys. :E

The Oz Army and Navy could have a fleet of utility rebuilds from the phasing out of S-70B's and S-70A's...

I guess that might be sensible so they'll rule it out!:ugh:

Army has been doing the A to L conversion for some time. USAF looks to be taking advantage of already proven program.

Were I the USAF, I'd make them all HH-60G's to make configuration control easier ... but I'm not the USAF. (Thank goodness!! :ok: )
