Hi all

Kiwi guy here, and have made the move to Melbourne.
Current situation is 500TT which includes IF and 110hours flight instruction (Holding a grade 3 instructors rating in Australia)

Just out of curiosity, within the Melbourne area, where would you recommend to start looking?
I realise there are operators operating from Essendon etc - do you think a bit of good old door knocking would be a good first step? Or do you think I should make some calls, let them know im here and i'm willing to come meet them at a suitable time??

Keen on any sort of flying, skydive, instructions, charter - whatever!

I realise a lot of people post 'looking' for a job, i'm just wanting some advice about STARTING to look in Australia.

Cheers for your help

That pretty much sums it up. The Ausi pilots who got their CPL two years ago and have 1000TT in the bush will be trying to get back home ( Melbourne) and get some work so they can chase the bird from down the street that they're keen on. Zip up north and take the job that they have just left.

Ausjet have advertised for relatively low time pilots in the past. The other operator at Essendon worth considering is GAM, but you'll probably need a lot more than 500 TT to get a look-in there.

And also be buddy-buddy with a current pilot

Fly tiger moth world have an ad out.... :ugh:

As a kiwi pilot myself options are limited here in Melbourne. Head west and or north and your options open up a lot, especially with an instructor rating.

Goodluck!
