Anyone notice strange amounts of extra fuel on the OFP lately? Seems the fuel policy has changed. Just hasn't filtered down to the lazy pilots yet. If you do notice strange amounts of extra fuel (extra 4 mins in my case) ring dispatch and ask them about it.
I know it's not as important as uniforms or nav bags, but a heads up from flight ops would have been nice?

Keep recovering.

Don- Are you talking about Additional fuel or Extra fuel?

I was given an exact amount of additional fuel last week on a trip which was exactly the same as the final reserve fuel- which I commented as strange to the FO, as it seems that it was such an exact contrived figure e.g. 2354 kg for 27 minutes, instead of the usual 1400 kg we normally see.

Yeah sorry Rex, it is the additional fuel. It caught my eye when I saw a strange amount equalling 4min on our plan. Had the same as you on the return. A new rule was instigated beginning of this week. Dispatch, VPNC etc were all made aware of it. Just not the pilot group.
Would recommend calling dispatch for the explanation. 3600 phone calls could be better than an FCI.

Yeah, Will give em a bell next time I see it.

It's only fuel - who needs to know about that stuff? :hmm:

I rang in to ops to query an oddball amount of fuel on our flight plan on the 19th of October. The dispatcher seemed mildly amused that I didn't know about the new fuel policy as it had been introduced "last Thursday".

Ain't it grand to be a respected professional?

News from Dispatch:
Non Peak arrivals=8 Min ADDNL
Peak arrival=Same amount as your Final Reserve
Agree.. It would have been nice if they had come up with something written...

Who cares, frankly!

It has become a push-button exercise and push-buttons can't reply.

Hey Don

You have definitley impressed me with your vigilance! I reckon my mob could give me +/- 4 tonnes and I'd be hard pressed to spot it. :ok:
