VH -ZZD C172 apparently down near the Putty Rd area south of Singleton
Crew injured rescue helicopters on scene now.
Weather has been high 30s and wind strong and gusty.

I have read others say things like this before……
I did my licence in ZZD. Conti Ice maker in the front, over reading tacho which meant you set a cruise RPM as per the instructor….and went slow. The tacho was eventually fixed.
If you put down anywhere around the Putty Rd and survive you have done well.
Assuming they had an engine failure, and strong winds, you can stall that machine with the STOL tips pretty damned slow over the ground, so that would help keep injury to a minimum.
