3 men dead, 2 others injured as plane & helicopter collide in mid-air over Frederick, Md. | WJLA.com (http://www.wjla.com/articles/2014/10/breaking-news-plane-helicopter-collide-in-mid-air-over-frederick-md--108378.html)

And it is also being covered in the rotary forum.

There is a pretty horrible video out there of the final moments which I don't think we need to have posted again here.

Pilots let it be a reminder to you of the Situational awareness you have to have in the circuit.

Don't put your aircraft into air you can't see , and if you can't see traffic and have confusion please don't descend until you can see and have checked the airspace you are going to descend into. ie wait until you about to turn base and then good look out then descend after the turn.

Combined rotary and fixed wing ops are always a bit different to normal and if you are not used to that environment you have a huge risk exposure. They won't be where you expect them!!! Same as with flexwing microlights.
