Just read this article about a man being burnt whilst refuelling his aircraft at Maryborough Airport .... http://tinyurl.com/pvtv9p4

Man suffers serious burns while refuelling aircraft

RACQ CareFlight Rescue has airlifted a pilot with serious burns following an accident at Maryborough Airport this afternoon.

The Sunshine Coast-based helicopter was tasked to the scene around 4.15pm to retrieve the 50 year old patient.
It’s understood he was refuelling his aircraft when static from the bowser sparked the small fire, causing burns to the local man’s hands and arms.
He was treated by QAS paramedics on the ground before being airlifted by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew to Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, where he’ll be cared for in the Burns Unit.
The patient travelled in a stable condition.

Anyone know what type of aircraft, how the person is, or even how it happened? Haven't heard of this before, not in General Aviation anyway.
Cheers KP

Sounds like things weren't earthed properly. Maybe he removed the fuel cap before he attached the static lead on the nozzle. Used to be one of my pet peeves when pilots did that before I started refueling.
