As part of some research I am doing I came across this part of the RAF MOD website

RAF - RAF Historical Societyrafhistoricalsociety (http://www.raf.mod.uk/history/rafhistoricalsocietymain.cfm)

Well worth a look at some of the Journals that have been printed.

The RAF in Germany 45-93 is well worth a read.

One understands that our very own Old-Duffer is something of a "mover and shaker" in the said Society .........

Well they are getting my money.

The Holy Grail for me:

Journal 16A - (http://www.raf.mod.uk/rafcms/mediafiles/EE9CCF43_5056_A318_A82B2A7CBCA5B814.pdf) Defending Northern Skies

Nice bottle of red and settle down with that tome tomorrow night.

Indeed so TTH.

I have the honour to be the democratically (see Note 1) elected Membership Secretary of this august body.

Yesterday we held a seminar on the Far East Air Force Post War and it was frightening to realise that I am old enough to have been a participant in part of the story related!!

Note:
1. Democratically = Nobody else wanted to do the job

I too am a member, recruited by Ted Hawkins, and when I lived in UK really enjoyed the meetings. Now I have to "make do" with the excellent Journal

Wander00,

.... not to mention the witty banter, herein!!

Speaker at RM Eastney. .... so I decided to do a stealth approach to the airfield but this was rather difficult with four Centaurus engines bellowing at full chat. I pulled up over the trees, slammed the aircraft onto the ground and chucked it in reverse. Having stopped, I opened my eyes ...(rest of sentence drowned by laughter)!

I had an excellent day out at the RAF Museum Hendon last Wednesday, attending the RAFHS Seminar "Aspects of the RAF in the Far East post WWII". The RAFHS is tremendous value for money, yet possibly the RAF's best kept secret. It deserves not to be!

Thank you OD, and all the other Society officers, for all your efforts on behalf of the membership.

If inappropriate, I'm sure the Mods will smack my knuckles but the RAF Historical Society is good value from every angle.

Two one day seminars, an AGM speaker, three journals per annum and all for a paltry £18.00, although attendance at the seminars is £20/head but that's 'cause we have to pay for the scoff at London prices.

Old-Duffer,
I am convinced. The cheque really is in the post.
