Has anyone's pension payment date (that is if you originally had it set for a date apart from "the end of the month") been moving to the right over the last couple of years?

My retirement date/pension date is the 21st. I can see from my BACS statement that my "pay" is released on, or about, that date depending on holidays/weekends. My "pay" hits my US bank account between 24th-28th (again depending on w/e etc) It's remained the same for the last few years.

Hope that helps?

Mine's always been paid on my retirement date. If they moved it right I'd feel I was losing out!

I retired a little under 2 years ago and my last day was the 16th, but my pension has always been paid on or near the 12th of the month.

Mine hits the bank on my retirement date or the last week day before it if it falls on a weekend.

I left on the 31st, my (EDP) 'pension' is paid on the 28th (or the previous Friday if that falls on a weekend) and is always in the bank on that date.

I don't recall having the option to choose the payment date and have never been entirely sure why it's paid when it is. My birthday is the 28th so maybe it's that?

I retired on 11 Sep 94 and my first pension payment was 14 Oct. For the last 20 years it has always been paid on the 14th of each month except when the day is a weekend or public holiday. Then it has been paid early.:confused:

Thanks chaps, I have confirmed, by phone with Equiniti, that my date HAS been changed twice. I now have to write them a nice letter asking for it to go back to the original date and wait.

thanks for your replies.

I'd be interested to hear why. Especially as they clearly didn't agree the changes with first.

Glad rag,

I wouldn't write them a letter - I'd verbally raise a complaint with them requiring them to tell you why their actions have created uncertainty, distress and inconvenience, asking them for a figure to settle and confirming, in writing, that your payment date will revert.

I was retired on the 31st, I receive my pension on the 25th - earlier if the date falls on a weekend or bank holiday.

Retired on the 22nd, always paid on the 20th or earlier. My monthly payment has, thankfully, never been late.

Mine has always been the 15th of the month (retired on the 31st). Always thought it depended on your surname's position in the alphabet, but don't know where I got the idea from.

Does it really matter, so long as it comes ?

Yes, it does. In very simplistic term, all I can manage in such matters, the concern may be that a 15 day (for example) shift to the right could lose you half a month's pension. Sure, it should all be adjusted accordingly, but given the obvious uncertainty expressed here, it's understandable that folks are concerned.

Mine is paid on the 28th. If the 28th happens to be a Sat/Sun, then it's paid on the previous Friday.

No problems over the last (crikey!) 11 years....

If you rely on it to pay Direct Debits or Standing Orders it possibly would matter. Out of interest, I checked today. Mine has been regularly paid for 10 years or so on the 20th (notwithstanding weekends etc) or so I have always assumed. This month though, it didn't go in until today. I shall keep a beady eye on it!

BEAgle,

Your: "No problems over the past (crikey) 11 years".

How about 42 years ! :ok:

Cheers, Danny,

Any outcome from this glad rag?

Her indoors has just retired and her pension is going to be paid on the 16th for some reason. That is not her leaving date, or her birthday or convenient.
