Geez! The CAA requires for a simple change of address (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=2685&pagetype=65&appid=54&mode=detail&appproc=37)

o A 7-page form with all gory details about personal data, licenses (CAA and foreign), and ratings
o GBP 46 processing fee + shipping (work creates work, I guess)
o Certified copy of license (can only be certified by head of training of an ATO or head of flight standards of an air operator)
o Certified copy of ID (can only be certified by head of training of an ATO or head of flight standards of an air operator, no government office etc.)

 Talk about gold-plating aviation! But seriously, I'm wondering what they were thinking. Must also create quite some effort on their side to process all that crap.

Other competent authorities in EASA-land just want an email to the licensing department. The FAA offers a simple online form to change address. New certificate will be mailed within days free of charge.

Doesn't change anything, but feels better to whine once in a while.

Ah, I see they changed the process.

A couple of years ago I submitted some paperwork to the CAA. That paperwork specifically did NOT include a change of address form or anything, since I did not relocate. However at that time the CAA did not need any reason or form to change an address. So they did.

Fortunately they only changed the last digit of my house number so all correspondence was sent to my neighbors. Who hand-delivered it to me anyway.

The good news was that after a simple phonecall, they undid their change. They even sent me the new license, which once again showed the correct address. All for free.

They haven't changed the process. If you read the page properly yiu would see that the extra stuff only apply if you hold a jar old license.

If you have a new easa license you just send them the details and they will send you a new one.

They haven't been able to issue jar licenses for years so there is no way they could change the address on one.

There will be less than 6 months left on most old jar licenses anyway.

madjock: Are you sure?

The page (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=2685&pagetype=65&appid=54&mode=detail&appproc=37) is titled: "Update the personal details / address on your Flight Crew Licence".

Form SRG2156 (http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/SRG2156Issue01.pdf) is titled "Application for the Notification of a Change to Personal Details, Including Change of Address, Change of Name andChange of Nationality".

Nothing suggests to me that these only apply to JAR-FCL licenses.

My (optimistic) reading of Table 61 of ORS5 no: 289 is that it is free.

Table 61 says excludes change of address. So yes i am pretty sure you don't need to pay.

And most of the rest of the form can be ignored if your only changing address

Why don't you do it online anyway if you have an easa license.

Oh, I see. Should've dug deeper ... I also wasn't aware that it's possible to do licensing changes online.

Then I should probably take back the rant (although the process is not very clear from the webpage only).

Thanks for your help. You saved me quite some work / cash.

Apprently once you start using the electronic system life becomes quite simple.

I don't think it links into the yougov system. Would be good if it did then the driving license and passport would be a none issue.

There will be less than 6 months left on most old jar licenses anyway.

Really? Why would that be so?

Mine expires 2017 ? It is deemed to be an EASA lic until renewal.

Hi Mad_jock and Zonkor
I have been trying to find the easa licence online address change option but giving up after an hour. Could you help me in the right direction?
Cheers

Indeed.
Update the personal details / address on your Flight Crew Licence | Private Pilots | Personal Licences and Training (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=2685&pagetype=65&appid=54&mode=detail&appproc=37) Says £45 but scheme of charges says no charge.
Online applications go from:
EASA Private Pilots Licence Aeroplane - PPL(A) | Our Role | About the CAA (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=2345&pagetype=65&appid=54&mode=summary&appprocsum=8)
or
On-line applications | Publications | About the CAA (http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=33&pagetype=90&pageid=8065)
But neither mention anything about change of address.
The form:
http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/SRG2156Issue01.pdf
Appears to be the one I want - so presumably needs ID certified by a HOfT and included.

So how can this be done online?

You can't complete an SRG2156 online.

That black text in the blue box at the top which implies you should is a common header to many of their forms. What I think it means, is that on some "enabled" forms you can type your info into the data fields, then print it before submission, rather than print it then fill in by hand.

With the couple of applications that are a genuinely online process, you have to take your ID to an examiner, show them it, photocopy it, get the examiner to write the required words and sign the copy, then scan the copy and upload it with the application. Easy and simple!

I've just filled out a form (SRG1125) with pages marked 1 of 11, 2 of 11, etc..
But there are only six pages! Last being 11 of 11.
I hope they don't get back to me for the missing pages.
