Hello,

If I have a family member travelling standby in economy, are they able to upgrade to business at checkin in case economy is full. Or, is a business class standby ticket required before checkin?

Thanks.

A business class ticket is required. However If economy is full and there is a seat available in business and your family member only has an economy ticket they will likely upgrade a full fare pax in order to free up a seat in economy for your family member.

I'm confused. Is this thread about Emirates? Sorry, Mana. I couldn't resist. 😜

To tell someone that EK will bump someone to J class to make room for staff travellers in Y class, may be a little optimistic with the truth.

Unbelievable Mana.
Even when I tell you this thread is about Emirates and therefore has nothing to do with you, you are still here commenting.
I give up.

Don and 777boy,

Knowledge is power, try looking on the portal for the PSM.

Reference AK page8 point3

EK will upgrade to get you on. But not all the gate staff know!

It was sort of an invitation, but I am a frequent flyer with EK and I also use EK infrequently as a non rev.
I'm a premium customer, so you have to treat me nice. :p

You two have me in stitches, irony, humour and prose. Jayto is right but what the heck does this actually mean?!

Fox Hat

A rather comical pairing of two words that, when said in the correct way, can sound rather rude. Usually used as a question by more mature classy ladies who don't realise what they've just said until they hear the laughter of young boys nearby.

Ahem, I'm getting a bit worried here JAYTO :O

Prince Charles turns up for an official visit to Wigan and is shown round by the Mayor. He’s wearing his best shiny buttoned blazer but on his head he’s got a big hat made from red fur. Eventually the Mayor’s curiosity gets the better of him and he asks the Prince why he’s wearing this strange headgear. ‘Well,’ says Charles. ‘I told mummy I was going to Wigan and she said, “Wigan, Wigan, Wear the fox hat”.’
