View Full Version : Seat foam

After a lengthy spell recovering from some nasty spinal surgery I am looking forwards to returning to flying (albeit on a 737 :( ). My big problem at the moment is that one of my butt cheeks has shrunk a lot when compared to the other side.
Is there a source of foam that can be recommended for seat wedge making so that I can carve it myself, experiment with shapes and angles and ultimately make a portable bum chock? It ought to be quite rigid, sensibly priced, fireproof and breathable. I need to get it right because I'll spend long hours wedged rigidly at a given angle and the bones might well knit together out of alignment.
If anyone has ANY useful input then I'd be interested to hear it.

Would this lead be of any use I wonder?

Have a look at Cumulus Soaring, Inc.- E-A-R Specialty Composites (http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/e-a-r.htm)

Glider flying for hours can be a pain in the rear -- until I got the 2" pink and blue cushion with cover:ok:
