Bloody technology! Here I go buying John Deakin's book 'Full Throttle' in hardback form and now I see it's out in ebook version for a quarter of the price!

(Mind you I think there may have been a Jabba-levy on my hardback copy to finance the Vin Rouge refurbishment fund.):E

Some of you who often read P-Prune will be familiar with the name John Deakin. Many of those who attended Advanced Pilots Seminars will have been lucky enough to meet this very knowledgable and interesting bloke. By the time he retired from JAL a few years ago he was the highest time 747 captain in the world.

I can honestly say that when I read the book I couldn't put it down. I can't recall any other book that made me break out in a sweat like this one, as I read of some of the hair-raising situations that John found himself in. It should be compulsory for anyone contemplating scud-running to read his adventures in South America. I adopted the brace position just reading it (much to the puzzlement of Mrs RA)

For anyone who's interested, here is a link for more info: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/473047

You are a funny bugger. :}

Actually now that I think about it, the book has a lot of educational content by alternate means of teaching. Basically it is a comedy…..Biography….and a good example of learn from others.

Probably why he is such a wise old fella….he learned a lot the hard way, and survived.

Speaking of books, I have just started Ryan Campbell's book Born to Fly. Another good read so far (up to ch.10). Ryan like John is such a humble fellow, he can't understand all the fuss and why so many get sold. Simple truth is they are a damned good book.

Both of you should be happy and proud of your achievements! :D

I have a photo of the pair of them somewhere…..will see if I can find it.

Try "Fate is the Hunter" for a good read.

Rather have the printed and bound version sitting on my bookshelves than the electronic version any day!:ok:

Concur with 601. Said book is on shelf about 6 feet behind me as I sit here.
