Is it normal during a UK election for voting cards to be transported by helicopter from remote places?

BBC News - Scottish independence: Voters answer referendum question (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29238890)

Helicopters and boats are being used to transport ballot boxes to counts in areas such as Argyll and Bute.

I believe this is normal practice in UK

Yes - it's normal, certainly in the remoter and island communities.

Gone are the days when people are prepared to wait until the next morning's ferry to find out the results.

120torque.

An insider has told me the Scottish registrations will start with a 'X'

The cross represents so many important things to Scotland;

1) Their national flag.
2) What they put on the voting form prior to independance.

I think I'll invest in the private reg X-BRIT for my new aircraft. ;)

Although now somewhat academic, it's unlikely 'X' would have been assigned.
The good folks in Mexico (XA,XB,XC), Burkina Faso (XT), Cambodia (XU),
and Myanma (XY,XZ) might have had something to say about that.

Maybe they'd all have had a referendum on whether to let the Scots use 'X'?

Irrelevant now - G-BRIT it is. Mr Salmond has beaten me to G-XSNP.

Saw last week , Mr Salmond flying around in PDG aS365N on his campaign in the news.

One could by cynical and say flying in PDG, made him look Pretty Damned good :ok::E

So guess this is the end of the line for independence ?
