Not a massive surprise I suppose even to someone who only reads the newspapers. But it seems likely that the sacrifices of some will have been for nothing.
Does this mean the west will be shortly back to square one again?
Its a story nobody now wants to hear.
How will the war develop now? Air power only from now on?

When you have government that is more concerned with Tw@tter approval, weekly sound bite hits on Sky and PMs holidays it's a certainty that the sacrifice in Afghanistan has already been forgotten. For all the sanctimonious tripe proffered at the dispatch box, politicians are about as trustworthy as an untrained ferret in your "shreddies". As we are seeing in Iraq, the minute we withdraw, the bad boys move straight back in. Sickening, and a true reflection of modern political leadership.

Nutty, I know you are right, but it just makes me so angry. Meanwhile this evening it looks like yet another democratic success (Iraq) and the continuing IS barbarity has just murdered another victim.
