Living expense in Jeddah

Greetings fellow ppruners,

I will be spending allot of time in KSA and mainly Jeddah and I was wondering if people here have some experience of beeing there, is it cheap or expensive living there compared to western europe ?

It really depends on you, you can eat expensive imports or local stuff. But in general its much cheaper than Europe, with the exception of booze :)

Try living in a good compound.It will help a lot and it's a major plus if you have a family! They're reasonably price and it's comparatively cheaper than Dubai

Put aside a little for the still in the roof. It shouldn't cost much but will give you much enjoyment.

Ensure you have adequate fire protection.

As Mutt sez, booze is the highest expense, EXCEPT if you become a beer man or a wine man. I wuz a wine guy...grape juice is readily available; with a little sugar and yeast, and a few chemicals, and some jugs, Problem Solved. If you like both beer and wine, find a partner who goes the other way, and share! (Caution: don't sell to locals!) Sam
