Hello,

I am considering flying to Prestwick for the airshow this weekend and understand that handling is mandatory. Can this be avoided, say by contacting the flying club?

Are there any other strips in the vicinity (closer than Strathaven)?

Thanks, Angus

Phone Prestwick Flight Centre on 01292 476523 - if they'll accept you, you'll park on Apron E & pay a much reduced fee

As ETC said above, you can fly in to Prestwick Flight Centre and avoid handling. The service is excellent, I pay £26 for landing and a day's parking for my SR22.

Ask nicely and they'll even order you a taxi :)

It's even cheaper to go to Prestwick Flying Club (non-profit making company run by volunteers) and nearer the terminal building for the static display. However, from the website:

"Please note that we are not manned every day and you are asked to telephone first to make sure a club member will be available if you plan to visit us.

Thanks for the replies.

Flew down from Aberdeenshire in 1:25, beats 4+ hours by road. Prestwick Flight Centre were very friendly and helped out with some last minute changes to our accommodation:) ATC reasonably friendly too. £20 landing and £23.50 overnight parking.

Oh, the airshow was very good too.

Overall a great weekend.

Cheers, Angus

PS. PFC are open 9-5 only.
