Part 61 Type rating

Ok i have waited for the new part 61 to come through and i am still unable to find out what aircraft require a type. The last information book that was on the casa website which talked about type rating has now been taken down.
From what i could gather most single engine turbine aircraft and all multi engine turbine aircraft still require a type rating but i am unable to fined any regulation with aircraft list.
Does anyone have a list or know where i can find it?

The way i read this is there is no type rating you must have been checked in the specific aircraft with training and a flight test. Would it not have been easier to make it a type rating or am i missing something

I think the situation is that for every aircraft with a type rating, you have to do a flight review on it each time.

For something that's class rated but is specially noted as one that requires flight training, you have to do that training once to be able to fly it, but subsequent flight reviews in an aircraft of that class will cover it from then on.

Or something like that!

The following regs relate to the question but are about as clear as mud to me.


61.062 Prescription of typesof aircraft for additional limitations on class ratings

Forparagraph 98(5A) (a) of the Act, CASA may, by instrument, prescribe types ofaircraft in which the privileges of a class rating may not be exercised unlessthe holder of the rating has completed flight training and a flight review inan aircraft of the type.





61.747 Limitations onexercise of privileges of class ratings in certain aircraft—flight review

(1)The holder of an aircraft class rating is authorised to exercise the privilegesof the rating in an aircraft of a type mentioned in subregulation (2) only ifthe holder has:

(a)completed the flight training mentioned in subregulation (3) for the aircrafttype; and

(b)successfully completed a flight review in:

(i)an aircraft of the type; or

(ii)an approved flight simulator for the flight review.

(2) For subregulation (1), the aircraft types are prescribedin an instrument under regulation 61.062.

(3) For paragraph (1)(a), the holder completes flighttraining for the aircraft type only if:

(a) the holder has received training in all the units ofcompetency mentioned in the Part 61 Manual of Standards for the class ratingthat are relevant for the aircraft type; and

(b) the training is conducted by:

(i) an instructor for a Part 141 or 142 operator that isauthorised to conduct flight training for the aircraft type; or

(ii) the holder of an approval under regulation 141.035 or142.040 to conduct the training; and

(c) the training is conducted in accordance with regulation61.205; and

(d) the instructor is satisfied that the holder meets thecompetency standards mentioned in the Part 61 Manual of Standards for the classrating that are relevant for the aircraft type.

(4) The holder of a class rating that was granted on thebasis of regulation 202.272 is taken to meet the requirement mentioned insubregulation (1) for a type of aircraft if, immediately before September 2014,the holder held an aircraft endorsement that was in force for the type ofaircraft.

On the right hand side click aircraft Type ratings and also down the bottom click aircraft ratings.
Says all multicrew aircraft require type ratings and some complex single pilot aircraft such as C550 B350/1900 and D228
