ICAO Amendment 1 - Australian Flight Planning Guidance

Was told the other day that ASA were getting upset with the IFR flight plans being submitted. But I have not been shown what ASA are jumping up and down about. We don't use INS etc, just basic ADF/VOR/Garmin 430 GPS nav/coms.

Regarding the PBN code, what codes are people putting in field 18 for standard IFR Airwork with typical GA equipment. Considering there seems to be no reference to ADF, or am I barking up the wrong tree.

when you entered "S" for standard before it included ADF, now it does not include ADF you have to also enter "F".

As far as section 18 - I think you will find people are still confused with what to put in there;

Firstly you need to know if your GPS and you are enroute rated only,
or
Is your GPS installed and certified for approaches with the flight manual supplement from an engineer or delegate etc, and are you rated for approaches,

Then you enter correctly as required.

If you used to add NAV/GPSRNAV when filing, you need to do this;

In avionics, tick 'RNP'

PBN Codes: C2 O2 S1

Add NAV/RNP2

Then all is a-ok!

Thanks

Bevan..

Bevan, that is mostly wrong.

For the old GPSRNAV = in "Equipment" (Field 10) tick G and Z, and in "Other" (Field 18), NAV/RNP2.

For the old GPSNPA, in "Equipment" (Field 10) tick G (already done above) and R, and in "Other, PBN" (Field 18) tick S1.

ENR 1.10 section 3.3.2 refers.

They are the only "equivalent" approvals as far as I am aware. Others, like C2 and O2, would require that CASA grant that approval, although I stand to be corrected on that.
