A while ago, I got my NVFR rating with the VOR endorsed, but not NDB, due to my aircraft's ADF going u/s during the flight.

Nowadays, I've got a MECIR with VOR and NDB (along with the other approaches).

If I let my MECIR expire, does that NDB endorsement expire as well until I renew it? Would I be able to fly to an NDB aid aerodrome without an alternate under NVFR?

Obviously I know how to track using an NDB, but just wondering about the legal side.

I do have GPS enroute as well, so that should cover me as long as I'm in an aircraft with the appropriate GPS.

You should get a PIFR before the MECIR expires.

For NVFR the NDB endorsement is only for enroute navigation & why would you? I'd be flying visually "augmented" with a hand held GPS.

Think I've answered my own question with a little more research:

From the CAAP's

5.8.6 The holder of a NVFR rating who also holds a current
command or co-pilot instrument rating endorsed with the VOR or
NDB navigation aids may apply to add those aids, together with
the DME navigation aid, to a NVFR rating without a flight test
provided navigational competency using at least one other
navigation aid has been demonstrated at night.
5.8.7 In addition, the holder of a current command or co-pilot
instrument rating who has a log-book certification authorising the
use of GNSS for en-route navigation under the IFR would also be
entitled to the GPSN endorsement on a NVFR rating without a
flight test if they had previously demonstrated navigational
competency using another aid at night.
