Just curious.
How are the crew protected?
Although airborne transmission hasn't been proven, would you crew the aircraft thinking 'it's ok'?
Do they tell you that you are going to pick up a 'patient' with a medical condition, or do they disclose the full medical details? e.g. Ebola victim
After you have done the flight, are you yourself put in confinement and/or tested?

If tasked to retrieve an Ebola patient, I would run a quick risk assessment - and resign on the spot! :E

If it was in an American Government / Privately run level 4 CDC approved aircraft transport, hell yes no dramas, but if it was in the back of a dirty old Cheiftain out of Nigeria, run a mile!

If there were a prang, how keen would you be as the aircrew to drag the patient out of the aircraft?

The journalist in that above article, fails to draw the correct comparisons.
The death rates from an established cold or flu virus worldwide to an emerging as at present isolated pocket area virus of Ebola does not compare. Just the same for comparing Malaria deaths which is in bigger isolated areas.
What has so far made Ebola containable IS the high death rate, putting the brakes on the chain of transmission from person to person. Now put in high population cities around the world and spreading quickly thanks to aviation, I would have to say be very sure you have a 2nd exit plan from the country you are in if it is not your home one. -Because the national border doors will shut within hours if this thing reaches a threshold.

All straight from the mainstream press Delta.

For an alternative view .... (http://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2014/08/11/ebola-why-hasnt-a-pandemic-ever-started-in-brooklyn/)

Or an entire blog if you have the time .... (http://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/category/ebola/)

Interesting reading indeed. From my perspective I would be more worried crossing the street.
