View Full Version : Counting overseas training hours towards Australian ratings

Hi all,

I am new to aviation - having completed my PPL recently. I have found a lot of useful information on this site but couldn't track down the answer to my current question.

I am going travelling shortly, from Australia, and will be looking to do some flying in South Africa and possibly Europe. Due to some delays in paperwork I may have to do some hours without having done a local validation of my license - and at a later stage a few more hours with a local validation having being completed.

Can I allocate dual hours flown in overseas countries towards Australian ratings - such as night flying or instrument time ?

Thanks to anyone who assist.

Cheers,
Richard

Hours are hours... So long as they are logged/accumulated legally at the time, the time should count towards what ever you are attaining, irrespective of the location...

That would be my opinion....

I did a special design feature endorsement overseas and presented to CASA the letter from the foreign instructor (the design feature endorsement is unique to oz for some reason). CASA chased up the FAA to verify his credentials and all was good. Took a couple of months.
