PPL Air law failed

Hi guys,

Today I failed the Air law exam for the first time scoring a miserable 65% !
I felt ready because I have been study quite hard for the past 10 days but it seems that It was not enough. My dream is to get in a Big Airline such as Lufthansa ( I do speak german ) or similar one day and I'm now wondering how can a fail in the exams look like in my "cv" ?

Unlucky on the failure.

As far as airlines are concerned it won't make any difference to your chances if you fail one PPL exam. It's unlikely they'd even know about it; never mind care. But even if they asked you about it then you can use it to your advantage by saying you tried to get the balance between studying and working right and on this occassion you didn't quite manage it. Nonetheless, you learned from it and never made the same mistake again. An admission like this is more likely to improve your chances by showing you have the right attitude and self-reflection than the failure is ever likely to diminish them.

Fail in a PPL subject is absolutely nothing.

Fail in an ATPL subject can make you ineligible with some airlines.

Don't worry about it, I failed 5 ATPL's but had no worries getting into a legacy. From my experience of 4 airlines, no one cares, for your own sake just nail it second time around.

Cabus which airlines were they, as for most European airlines you wouldn't get past the telephone interview on failing 5 ATPLs, unless you know someone within the airline to pull your CV through!!

What will happen to my Hours if I decide not to go forward through the course ? Will they be lost in the future If I decide again to go for my PPL License ? It is not a good period for me and it has nothing to do with the fail !
I have by now flown 15 Hours and I have just 1 attempt at the Air law exam,

If you have 15 hours logged as P/UT it will still count towards the 45 hours required for licence issue.

When I was doing my PPL exams there where no iPhone apps, but I think I remember using Airquiz and PPLCruiser website, don't worry about failing, I failed some of my ATPL exams but still managed to get a commercial job no problem.

For Lufthansa, it's the DLR that's of most concern.

Redsnail is totally correct, it is the DLR that really counts. But you should not be failing any PPL exams if you want to go further, unless of course you only did 30 minutes learning, revision and brush-up in the pub. And if that is the case, then this is a wake up call. But if this is the best you can do, give up now. The exams you will have to do to become a commercial pilot are not much more difficult, but there is so much more to learn and regurgitate you'll have to put in a great deal of effort to make it through.

Hi,

I just read your post regarding failing your PPL Exam. You know you can look at it like this. How much do you want it? Forget about your CV, your only getting started in life.

We all have different learning styles. Some can pick up a study book, and basically go and sit the exam once the book has been completed, and pass. Others, have to really break it all down, and put in extra effort to get the results they require to pass. I know for myself, I have had to put in some long hours to pass the CPL exams, of which I have all done first go. But it hasn't always been like that for me in life. Some failures in life can do you good. It either breaks you, or it can make you more determined to succeed.

I started a couple of business in my 20's, which basically taught me that nothing in life falls at your feet. You have to work hard at it. Certainly more than the other guy trying to sell the same product or service. If you didn't compete you went hungry.

It's as simple as are you willing to put everything into it? And I mean leaving nothing to chance. Your success is in your hands, not anyone else's. Find a learning style that suits and go for it. Don't worry about one failure. Just put a process in place that will avoid that happening in the future.
