Hi All!

I just sent off for PPL license last friday, and royal mail tell me it arrived Monday, 0720Z. I asked my instructor the average waitign time from posting, to receival (is that a real word?), and he said 10 days. I have about 13 days until Popham (June 1st) and I seriously want to take the Robin 2160 down but it's all dependent on the CAA response time.

Anyone know an tricks on how to get a faster response, otherwise anyone got any excitement releif pills?

BTW, lets say I do go, who am I going to talk to, where are all the Pruners gona hang? Also, if anyone has been before, can you give me some advice on what to do when I land, like where to put her and shutdown and what to do afterwards?

One last thing, are we allowed to camp overnight or anything? The "underthe wing" kind of thing, except I'll bring a tent.

Oh, if anyone wanted to know...I'm coming from up north, Sherburn-In-Elmet (EGCJ). If anyone wants a lift, I might be encouraged to bring down the PA28 and share out the costs instead (only 2 seats available! left and right front seats are already taken).

Cheers
Ben

When you arrive at Poham, cuppla things you should know...
First....RW26 involves an approach at an oblique angle to the runway. It is marked by a white arrow and you should keep the garage on your left, past a small line of trees, then turn on to the runway and put the aircraft down. You will be doing several things at once, but if you start yor final turn at the right time, you will be ok.
If you land on 03 you will be aproaching over a forest. Most people make the approach high, then stuff the nose down onto the runway, so be careful not to over push it, as the runway slopes away from you. So it is important not to be too fast.
On RW 08 make the approach with the grain silos (Easily spotted)
on your right, then a gentle turn on to finals.

If you then park with the Clubhouse on your right, by the signals square.

The management of this small airfield are superbly friendly and I don't think camping is a problem.
Call them on 01256 397733

Finally, enjoy what is a small aviation challenge which will make you go away with a sparkle in your eyes.
Read it up on Jeppesen or Pooleys.

PiperPilot,

I think I'm correct in saying you can't fly to an unlicensed airfield, even without pax, because it's unlicensed. (You are, effectively, still a student, with all the same limitations.) But you can fly to Blackbushe, and I'm sure someone will be able to pick you up from there - I'll pick you up myself if no one else is available!

Hope to see you there - and if you get your license in time, and can come with pax, even better!

One last request, though - can you please post on the "sticky" Popham thread at the top of the forum, and close this thread? It's so much easier if everything is kept in the same place!
