I should like to thank the two Lynx crews who did flybys over my house in Dumfries and Galloway today! Great to see and at operational height to boot!

Not seen the RAF in months so well done army guys!:ok::ok:

Spotted by me also over the Eden Valley in Cumbria too. First time I have ever seen an Army Lynx up here.

Something sharp and pointy came very very low over our house this morning too, just heard not seen, but didn't sound like a Tornado. It was also a lot lower than Tornados normally come over so I guess it was probably French:-)

Presumably there is a big exercise on at the moment.

Have I missed something (being over the hill, etc)? When did the Royal Air Force acquire Lynx helicopters? And what's an "operational height"? So many questions, I must be getting old(er).

Don't forget that Mk 7 Lynx are also flown by the Dark Blue ;)

I think 847 NAS now fly the Wildcat Mk 1.

The Lynx Mk 7 went out of service last year.

I believe that Wildcat is let out of the bag early next year:

Your aircraft recognition has improved!! You have not only spotted that it was a helicopter, but you have even given it a name!!

I am impressed!!

I did not realise that you had such cognitive skills knowing you are an ex-Litenin guy!

Of much greater importance - and just slightly off thread.........

What are you going to do after Scotland gains independence??

Stay there as an unwanted and, probably, illegal immigrant, or head south and claim a council cottage in Chelsea??

In the meantime - hope all is well with you!!

Thanks Bomber! Had thought about starting the Free Scottish Army but can't afford any helicopters! Any donations from Pruners might encourage me to try!

On the other hand I might just spend it in the bar drowning my sorrows!
