I should have recognised it :O but anyone spot and id the black aircraft transiting over Lyneham today around 15:00 and headed in the rough direction of Fairford or Brize.

Rough description (very): Black, twin jet (engines or possibly pods appx 1/3 of the wing length from the fuselage), long wings (bit like a U2 or the US mucked about version of the Canbarra), long nose section.

Any ideas please?

I'm guessing it was the Kemble-based Canberra - it was definitely flying a couple of days ago. Silver though.

Old story from last year: http://www.aeroplanemonthly.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=615:canberra-flies-at-kemble-&catid=38:latest-news&Itemid=60

Not the Kemble Canberra, it was def black and the wingspan was too large outboard of the engines/pods.

Think the U2 is the best match

Lots of noise over Newcastle tonight. Joint Warrior or is Putin invading?

It's Newcastle, why would Putin invade?

Putins mates have already bought anything worth having anyway and as for what's left yer couldnt even give that away these days...

From a spotting source, a U-2 did arrive at Fairford this afternoon.
