Interesting to see the Chief of Defence designate acknowledge during his press conference that he was an ex 'birdie' (common name used in the Navy for a member of the Fleet Air Arm) and also acknowledge that it was good to see another 'birdie' become Chief of Navy (the 2nd only to do so).

The latest 'Slipstream' (Fleet Air Arm Magazine) has the CDF designate (a former RAN Skyhawk pilot) listed amongst those with a plaque to be placed on the Fleet Air Arm 'Wall of Service' situated outside the Naval Aviation Museum Nowra.

Well done to him.

Interesting bit by Abbott

"Traditionally, Defence chiefs were appointed to three-year terms, but Mr Abbott said appointments would now run for four years."
