This comment is a little general.

Did you call the PPG main switchboard number or did you speak to a shop that sells it? Arguably PPG are the biggest and best.

Protec also sell what you are after, however here's a tip... PPG owns them too :ok:

based on PERSONAL experience stay away from Protec.

As an industry professional, I can no longer reccomend them as I have in the past.

If so have a chat to Lisa from Bodyshop Paint Supplies in Bayswater. She REALLY knows her products and could probably give you a worth listening to point in the right direction.

its a 2 pack. Know some pilots that have used it on their aircraft. Certainly gave a good glossy finish and seems hard wearing.

I use AWL Grip on my Yacht and it stands up to Salt Water really well, probably the harshest environment for paint is the sea.


It is also on my T 28 and is now 5 years old some stone chips but otherwise in good shape.

Thank you all for your kind advice. I've also been in touch with Claire from Aerospace Surface coatings who market Sherwin Williams Aerospace paint.

The Dupont Imron "Aviation" are also good paints. I have used both the 5000 & 6000 series. The 5000 series is really easy to use and you get a beautiful finish, particularly if you go 'clear over base', but starts to fade after 3 years if your aircraft is left outside, however unlike some 2 packs it will buff.


The 6000 is tough as nails but pretty tricky to apply if you don't know what your are doing. I think they might have updated these in the last few years. Here is the list of suppliers:
