MCAS Yuma staged a great little show on Sat 15 Mar 14 which included the first public flying demonstration of the F-35B. It is currently planned to base 5 x 16-aircraft F-35B squadrons and 1 x 8-aircraft OT&E unit at MCAS Yuma. The base currently operates the AV-8B and F-5N (ex-Swiss AF).

RAFEngO ...

Cracking pictures ... thanks for posting :D

But I still think the F-35 is one ugly looking aeroplane ... a Pregnant Monkey-Pea comes to mind. :ok:

Good pictures. Agree its an ugly looking beast. Has it got an internal weapons bay? What will be its payload? Must admit now I'm out, and with all the shenanigans over the two carriers I had actually forgotten all about it, or doubt it would even get thus far.
Happy days for the 5 week stint we did at Yuma with 800 NAS in 1999. Decent hotels, decent subs, not an overtaxing workload - t'was was a good time in Arizona.

It has an internal weapons bay - the doors on the aircraft in the static display are open (see photos).
